Why adopt proficiency based practices?
For a long time, schools have provided students with a simple number grade to report student achievement. That number can represent everything from a student’s academic progress to their work habits and participation. As a school community, we recognize that we need to be more responsive and provide more detailed information about student skill development as well as content achievement. To support this shift, we are focusing on improving classroom instruction and assessment. Student academic achievement will be assessed separately from a student’s habits of work.
