Modern & Classical Languages
The Modern and Classical Languages curriculum focuses on developing students' communication skills and is based on the ACTFL National Proficiency Guidelines for speaking, writing, listening and reading. The program also provides students with opportunities to use their language beyond the classroom through exchanges, language clubs and field trips.
Modern Languages: BUHS offers four modern languages Chinese, French, German, and Spanish from Novice through the Advanced levels. In modern language classes, students learn to communicate in real-world situations.
Latin: BUHS offers three years of Latin. In Latin courses, students learn about the language and its connections to English grammar, vocabulary and word derivations, as well as Roman culture and history.
