Academics.

The teachers and staff at Brattleboro Union High School are proud of our academic and the career-technical programs at the Windham Regional Career Center. We provide a wide variety of relevant and challenging opportunities for a student body with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and interests.  Our outstanding faculty stretches our students in a multitude of ways through curricula that emphasizes writing and critical thinking; through programs that focus on hands-on projects; through small, personalized or alternative programs; and through courses that promote interaction among the students and the community.

Established in 1951

Brattleboro Union High School is a public school in Vermont that serves the towns of Brattleboro, Vernon, Guilford, Dummerston, and Putney. It has approximately 850 students in grades 9-12. There is an attached middle school (grades 7 and 8) and career and technical center on our campus.

In 1956, the school on Fairground Road was officially opened, having moved from its previous location in downtown Brattleboro. In the early 2000's, the campus on Fairground Road underwent a massive renovation to modernize and accommodate the growing number of students on campus.

Start. Excellence. Today.

Today, Brattleboro Union High School is a modern, comprehensive, public school tucked into the southeast corner of Vermont.  In fact, BUHS is a Vermont Energy Star efficiency rated facility which we are very proud of!

High school can be a daunting undertaking and we work hard to be sure that all students feel welcome and supported. Our school has a wide range of course offerings from the traditional to cutting edge courses in areas such as Television Production, Graphic Design and Advanced Biology. Many of our upper level courses offer dual high school and college credit from schools in Vermont and New Hampshire. In addition to those courses we offer course work through Virtual High School and the Windham Regional Career Center. There are several programs that allow students to study abroad in Belize, China, Costa Rica, England, Switzerland and other countries.
